Greensboro Aids Displaced Residents After Apartment Complex Closure

Greensboro continues support for displaced residents of West Market Street complex

Greensboro Assists Residents Displaced by Apartment Closure

In the wake of a significant apartment closure, Greensboro continues its efforts to aid those affected. The closing of the District at West Market in December forced nearly 200 residents to move out. This decision was made following the discovery of hazardous electrical issues, including burned wiring and faulty breakers. The contractor responsible for the building’s electrical system has since had their license revoked by the state.

The city remains committed to supporting displaced individuals, offering temporary accommodation in hotels until January 31. Furthermore, Greensboro provides financial assistance to ease the transition. Residents can apply for up to $1,000 to cover moving expenses, security deposits, and related costs. In addition, meal cards may be available to help alleviate the burden on those affected.

Residents seeking assistance must submit their applications by the January 31 deadline.
