A Tense Conclusion to Nevada’s Legislative Session
The final day of Nevada’s special legislative session was marked by intense debate and significant decisions. Lawmakers, who had been convening in Carson City for an entire week, finally wrapped up their discussions late into the night, shortly after 10 p.m.
Despite the lengthy deliberations, two notable proposals were not approved. A bill that aimed to increase film tax incentives to a total of $1.8 billion did not pass, nor did a bipartisan initiative designed to restrict the number of residential properties that corporate investors could purchase.
However, not all efforts were in vain. The governor’s crime bill moved forward, featuring some protections for immigrants. Additionally, Democrats introduced a last-minute resolution that succeeded in embedding mail-in voting into the state’s constitution.
