New WS/FCS Superintendent Shares Vision Amid Budget and Trust Issues

WS/FCS Superintendent Don Phipps to give rescheduled community talk on Jan. 6

In a bid to address pressing challenges and set a new course for the future, the recently appointed superintendent of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools, Don Phipps, will be presenting his strategic vision for the district. This significant event will take place on Tuesday at noon, during a community gathering.

Entitled “A New Chapter For Our Schools,” the session promises to shed light on Phipps’ plans to navigate the district through its current budgetary challenges and to strengthen trust with local stakeholders.

Phipps, who officially began his tenure on December 1, following his swearing-in, had initially planned to deliver this address earlier. However, the event was postponed due to a tragic incident at North Forsyth High School involving the accidental death of a student.

Amidst concerns over school safety and financial instability, Phipps is committed to tackling the district’s low morale, which he has prioritized in his agenda to uplift the community.

This upcoming engagement is a part of Faith in the City, a monthly dialogue series centered around educational topics, which takes place at Knollwood Baptist Church.
