Nebraska Softball Team Prepares for Women’s College World Series Journey
The Nebraska softball team has navigated a challenging path to reach the Women’s College World Series, an achievement celebrated by the team in discussions on Wednesday. With a determined focus on each step of their journey, the team has emphasized perseverance and dedication over the season.
Jordy Frahm, a transfer from Oklahoma where she was part of two national championship wins, underscored the team’s goal of reaching the World Series, particularly after falling just short last season. “This is a goal that our team had from the very beginning, but it was never something that we spent all this time talking about, because in order to get here, it’s really hard, and a lot goes into that, and a lot of the right things have to happen,” stated Frahm, who returned to Nebraska three years ago to lead the Huskers.
Frahm described the experience as surreal, not only for herself but also for her teammates who are newcomers to the World Series environment. “We’re just soaking in the environment, but yeah, now that we are here, it’s right back to the same thing, head down, one pitch at a time, one pitch at a time,” she remarked. According to Frahm, the team’s hard work and growth have been instrumental in reaching this point.
In advance of their upcoming game against Arkansas, Frahm, senior teammate Ava Kusak, and coach Rhonda Revelle addressed the media. Coach Revelle highlighted the competitive parity between Nebraska, a fourth seed, and their opponents, the fifth-seeded Razorbacks. “I think it’s just going to be a matter of who can get out there and win more pitches and execute in the moment, a little bit better,” she explained.
The match is scheduled for Thursday at 8:30 p.m. Central time and will be broadcast on ESPN2. A victory would advance Nebraska to a Saturday game at 6 p.m. against the victor of the UCLA-Alabama match-up. Conversely, a loss would see them face the loser of the UCLA-Alabama game in an elimination round on Friday at 8:30 p.m.
