Officials Report Increased Damage from Hawk Fire
The Hawk Fire, which has been raging across the region, has now destroyed 47 homes, according to officials at a recent press briefing. This marks an increase from previously reported numbers. Additionally, eight structures have been seriously damaged, while one commercial building has been lost to the flames.
As crews gain access to the impacted areas, they are conducting thorough damage assessments to determine the full extent of the destruction caused by the fire.
Currently, the Hawk Fire has consumed 15,067 acres and stands at 27% containment. Nearly 900 personnel are actively engaged in battling the blaze. Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported at this time.
In related news, NV Energy has reported damage to approximately 100 power poles along Highway 395 and Peavine Peak, resulting in power outages for around 4,500 customers. Repair crews are diligently working to restore service.
