The couple’s journey began at BYU-Idaho, where they met and eventually moved to Blackfoot. Samantha, who hails from Zimbabwe, focused her career on special needs education while Jacob worked in a fabrication shop. Their shared desire to provide love and care led them to foster almost twelve children over the years.

Currently, Jacob and Samantha are caring for three young boys they hope to adopt permanently. Last summer, they joyously welcomed a teenage daughter from Zimbabwe through an international adoption, embracing the financial challenges that accompanied this addition.

However, just before the festive season, their situation took a difficult turn.

A deer collision severely damaged their family vehicle, which the insurance company would not cover. This left the family, consisting of four children and two adults, dependent on a single pickup truck for their daily commutes.

Compounding their difficulties, Jacob lost his job. Despite these setbacks, he continues to transport Samantha and their children to school before dedicating his time to the job search, striving to keep the family on track.

Recognizing the family’s predicament, a Secret Santa collaborated with the East Idaho News to create a memorable Christmas experience for them.
