Thousands Rally in Athens for ‘No Kings’ Protest Against Tyranny

No Kings 3 protest draws hundreds to Athens

Protests in Athens Highlight Growing Concerns Over Democracy and Immigration

In a significant display of public dissent, thousands gathered in Athens on Saturday for a series of No Kings protests, orchestrated by IndivisibleGA10. These demonstrations drew large crowds, with several hundred participants assembling at Bishop Park for a march and subsequent speeches from figures in the Democratic Party.

Participants expressed a desire to voice their opposition to federal government policies and to foster a sense of community. Nicholas Bowdler, positioned at the park’s entrance with a sign, articulated his concerns about the current state of democracy, stating, “It’s the responsibility of all of us to make sure that tyranny doesn’t overtake us.” This event marked Bowdler’s first involvement in a No Kings protest, though he noted ongoing frustration with the Trump administration.

Rebecca Cochran, attending alongside her family, was another newcomer to the protests. Her participation was motivated by a wish to support immigrants in the United States. “My husband grew up out of the country, so we greatly value our immigrants and hate to see how they’re treated,” Cochran commented, highlighting the personal connection that fueled her involvement.

Following the march, attendees gathered in a sheltered venue to listen to Democratic Party organizers, concluding the day’s events on a note of solidarity and shared purpose.
