Vehicle Crashes into Athens Grocery Store, Injuring Several
In a startling event at an Athens grocery store, a vehicle driven by Lonneshia Shafaye Appling crashed into the Alps Road Kroger. New details from the Athens-Clarke County Police Department reveal that the driver spent several minutes in the parking lot before driving into the building.
The collision resulted in injuries to one employee and four customers who were at the checkout area. Among the injured, the Kroger employee is believed to have suffered a skull fracture, one customer may have a concussion, and another sustained an arm laceration. The driver, Appling, experienced facial swelling as a result of the crash.
The police investigation into the incident is still underway.
