This July, Lackawanna County Courthouse Square will be alive with the sounds of Grammy-nominated bands and a tribute to Taylor Swift, all part of the free FIFA Fan Zone events. The celebration is set to coincide with the World Cup matches being hosted in nearby Philadelphia.
Hanson will take the stage on July 18, with fellow Grammy nominees Tonic performing the following day, July 19, according to organizers. The events are part of the regional Fan Zones selected to celebrate the World Cup, with Scranton joining Pittsburgh and Reading as host cities.
Details of these events were shared by Curt Camoni, Executive Director of the Lackawanna Visitors Bureau, alongside county commissioners Thom Welby and Bill Gaughan, and Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti. The collaborative effort involves the City of Scranton, Lackawanna County commissioners, and the Lackawanna County Visitors Bureau, working closely with local police and fire departments.
The venue will feature a main stage with a 13-foot by 29-foot screen broadcasting live World Cup matches. Additionally, four smaller screens measuring 6 feet by 9 feet will be placed around the square for optimal viewing.
