Celebrating Kwanzaa in Athens: A Week of Cultural Events
This December, Athens will be abuzz with the vibrant celebrations of Kwanzaa, a holiday that underscores the rich heritage and culture of African Americans. Spanning from December 26th to 31st, the festivities will emphasize seven foundational community values, offering a unique opportunity for public engagement and learning.
Founded in 1966, Kwanzaa focuses on principles such as Umoja (unity) and Kujichagulia (Self-Determination). The following events are scheduled to take place with no cost to attendees, welcoming all members of the community to participate:
Umoja (unity): Cultural Competence Strategies for Community Advancement
