Thousands of Students to Attend Broadway Show in New Theater Initiative

New initiative brings Guilford County Schools students to the theater

New Initiative Brings Broadway Magic to Local Students

This fall, a remarkable initiative is set to enchant thousands of local public school students, offering them a unique opportunity to experience Broadway’s magic firsthand. The Every Child Center Stage program is poised to transform Greensboro’s Tanger Center into a hub of theatrical education and inspiration.

Through this innovative program, up to 3,000 students from Guilford County will have the chance to attend a Broadway performance at the Tanger Center annually. This effort is made possible through a collaboration with the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro.

Scott Johnson, the General Manager of the Tanger Center, emphasizes the transformative potential of the program, stating, “We think that’s gonna make a dramatic impact on lives [to] have the opportunity to experience art in this environment at a high level. It inspires them to do things in their lives.”

The task of selecting which students will benefit from the program lies with the administrators of Guilford County Schools, ensuring the opportunity reaches those who will benefit the most.

Funding for Every Child Center Stage will be bolstered by the proceeds from the Tanger Center’s fifth anniversary gala scheduled for November.

The program will officially commence on November 19, featuring a special showing of the acclaimed musical Wicked, marking the beginning of a new chapter in arts accessibility for young learners.
