Scholarship Opportunities for Tahoe Truckee Students

The Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation (TTCF) is offering a significant opportunity for local students and young adults aiming to advance their education or vocational training. Through the Workforce Scholarship Program, TTCF will be accepting applications until June 30, with the aim of fostering a skilled workforce that remains within the community.

For the current year, there is $380,000 available in scholarship funds. These funds are earmarked for students pursuing careers that are in high demand, such as education, healthcare, and aviation, among others.

Phyllis McConn, the community impact officer at TTCF, emphasizes the broader vision of the program: investing in the community’s future. “We want people to live here, not only work, but be part of the community. Be soccer coaches, serve at schools, volunteer, do trash clean-up, all things that make you part of a community,” McConn stated.

Addressing the financial hurdles that students face is a primary objective of the initiative. According to McConn, the foundation’s strategy is to provide comprehensive support. “We want to be one and done. Even if a student is applying for law school, we want to know what that annual gap is for them, and try and fill it so they can just go forward with their education,” she explained.

This year, the program’s reach has been extended thanks to contributions from local donors, foundations, and organizations. A notable example is a scholarship established by volunteers from Tahoe Forest Health. This scholarship, named in honor of dedicated volunteers Al and Josie Noyes, is designed to support aspiring healthcare professionals.
