A community gathers to remember Renee Good before upcoming demonstration.

A vigil is set to take place on January 9th at 7 p.m. in memory of Renee Good, a Minneapolis resident who was fatally shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer. The Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement is organizing the event to honor her life and address the circumstances surrounding her death.

Renee Good was killed on January 7th while she was in her vehicle, with the incident being described by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem as “an act of self-defense against a domestic terrorist.”

The vigil will occur at College Avenue near East Clayton Street, where participants will gather to pay their respects.

In addition to the vigil, Indivisible GA 10 will hold a protest against ICE on January 11th. The demonstration is scheduled from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and will take place at College Square.
