Athens-Clarke County Seeks Applicants for Poet Laureate Program
The Athens-Clarke County community is on the lookout for its next Poet Laureate, a role designed to foster a deeper appreciation for the literary arts throughout the area. This initiative aims to bring poetry to a diverse audience, including students, senior citizens, and young people.
The selected Poet Laureate will embark on a two-year mission to engage the community with poetry, supported by the ACC Leisure Services Arts Division. The role will involve organizing various activities and making appearances to promote poetry. A selection panel comprised of local residents, educators, and arts professionals will review applications to choose the next Laureate.
Eligibility requirements for the position include being at least 18 years old and residing in the Athens area. Current Athens-Clarke County employees are not eligible to apply. Interested individuals can submit their applications via the ACC GOV website by Friday, December 5 at 5 p.m.
