Once a prime destination for vacationing New Yorkers, the iconic Mount Airy Lodge in the Poconos now operates as a casino resort. This historic locale will soon welcome a high-profile visitor: President Donald Trump.
In a move reminiscent of his earlier campaign trails, Trump is set to make a significant appearance at this Monroe County venue. This visit is part of a broader initiative described by Axios as “a year of heavy stateside travel” aimed at promoting his economic strategies in anticipation of the midterms.
Scheduled for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Trump will deliver remarks at the Mount Airy Casino Resort in Paradise Township, close to Mount Pocono, as confirmed by U.S. Rep. Rob Bresnahan’s office on Friday.
According to a White House official, Trump will discuss the strides his administration has made in boosting the American economy. “He’s talking about how he and the administration are continuing to focus on issues like ending the inflation crisis and affordability,” said the official, who wished to remain anonymous. “This is not a victory lap … By no means is the work done.”
Rep. Bresnahan is expected to attend this event, his office confirmed.
Details from the Pennsylvania GOP
The Republican Party of Pennsylvania shared event details and registration information on its Facebook page. The post highlights Trump’s return to Pennsylvania to address key issues such as inflation and economic growth.
Beyond its gaming facilities, Mount Airy boasts a hotel, golf course, and a sizable convention center and ballroom. Its strategic location in a politically important region of a swing state adds significance to the event.
Bresnahan’s 8th District is predicted to be a focal point in the 2026 House races, with Democrats aiming to overturn the narrow Republican majority.
Inflation and Health Care as Central Themes
As the 2026 elections approach, inflation remains a pivotal concern for both Trump and his political opponents. According to The Associated Press, while Trump can cite reduced gasoline prices, he battles rising utility costs and increased health insurance premiums linked to the Affordable Care Act.
The expiration of tax credits related to the Affordable Care Act may lead to a 21.5% average cost increase for Pennsylvanians purchasing their own health insurance, as reported by the state in October.
The Affordable Care Act was also a topic of discussion in Northeast Pennsylvania on Friday as notable Republicans, including Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator Mehmet Oz, Rep. Bresnahan, and U.S. Sen. Dave McCormick, visited the area, setting the stage for Trump’s upcoming visit.
