Karrin Taylor Robson Removes Anti-Abortion Group Reference from Website

Is Karrin Robson trying to hide her anti-abortion record?

Arizona Gubernatorial Candidate Karrin Taylor Robson Alters Campaign Website Amid Abortion Debate

Karrin Taylor Robson, a former Republican gubernatorial candidate in Arizona, has made notable changes to her campaign website, removing references to a well-known anti-abortion organization.

During her 2022 bid for the Republican nomination, Robson’s website highlighted her support for Maggie’s Place, a Catholic organization focused on discouraging abortions among unhoused pregnant women. The original biography on her site praised Robson’s contributions, stating she was a “longtime conservative activist” and a “supporter” who “proudly donated to Maggie’s Place, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting pregnant women in need.”

In the latest iteration of her campaign website, references to Maggie’s Place have been omitted, and no mentions of abortion appear on the site, despite Robson’s known stance on the issue. In 2022, she affirmed her position on X, writing, “I’ve been proudly pro-life my whole life. I’ve supported pro-life leaders and I am proud to stand with the unborn.”

Robson has expressed conditional support for abortion in cases of rape or incest. However, during a June 2022 interview with KTAR host Barry Markson, she suggested such cases might be rare. “I believe that life begins at conception and, quite frankly, the instance of pregnancies occurring in violent situations are extremely rare,” Robson stated, adding that less than 2% of such situations result in pregnancy. She emphasized the availability of “non-violent choices” for women in these circumstances. No scientific evidence supports her claim regarding the rarity of pregnancies from rape.

Robson is not alone in modifying her stance on abortion publicly. In the 2022 election cycle, fellow Republicans Blake Masters and Kari Lake also revised their campaign websites to remove anti-abortion rhetoric.

Abortion remains a contentious issue in Arizona. In a recent state vote, 61% of Arizonans backed a proposition enshrining the right to abortion in the state constitution.

Should Robson secure the Republican nomination, her competition would likely be the incumbent Democratic Governor Katie Hobbs. Hobbs’s campaign emphasizes her efforts to safeguard abortion rights, noting her repeal of Arizona’s 1864 abortion ban and efforts to broaden access to contraceptives and protect healthcare providers.

Robson’s campaign has received an endorsement from former President Donald Trump, further highlighting her prominence within the Republican field.
