ACCGov Services & Facilities Schedule Changes for Christmas Holidays

Athens-Clarke County Government Announces Holiday Schedule Adjustments

Residents of Athens-Clarke County should prepare for changes to government service hours during the holiday week. Key facilities and services will be operating on a modified schedule to accommodate the holiday period.

Major administrative offices, including City Hall and the Courthouse, alongside the Satula Avenue Building and Dougherty Street Governmental Building, will be closed on December 24 and 25. Normal operations will resume on December 26.

Waste management services will also experience a temporary halt. Residential and commercial garbage and recycling services will not be available outside the Downtown district on December 24 and 25. Inside the Downtown district, these services, along with composting, will pause on December 25, resuming on December 26.

Parks, leisure, and animal services, including field services and the adoption center, will follow a similar schedule, closing their doors on December 24 and 25, and reopening on December 26. Additionally, transit services will be unavailable on these two days, with regular service resuming on December 26.

Despite these closures, emergency services remain uninterrupted and can be accessed anytime by calling 911.
