Oconee County Schools Resume Normal Operations After Bomb Threat
Schools in Oconee County faced an unexpected disruption when an anonymous bomb threat was received via email, prompting swift action from authorities. After a thorough investigation, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that it is safe for schools to continue their daily operations.
Multiple schools, including North Oconee High School, Colham Ferry Elementary, Rocky Branch Elementary, and Oconee County Middle School, were evacuated as a precautionary measure. This was in response to the threatening email, and all students and staff were evacuated safely. The local law enforcement is actively looking into the origins of the threat.
Despite the initial alarm, parents were advised not to come to the schools to pick up their children. The schools maintained their regular dismissal schedules, and students were allowed to return to their classes once the all-clear signal was given by the Sheriff’s Office.
High Shoals Elementary and Oconee County Elementary also conducted evacuations as a precaution, although they did not receive any direct threats. These schools quickly resumed their normal activities.
