On March 19, Robert Butler, a troubleshooter for Arizona Public Service (APS), noticed an unusual sight while driving on Grant Street. A small wagon and an umbrella were positioned on the sidewalk, seemingly out of place.

It was then that Butler spotted a toddler, approximately three years old, sprinting along the sidewalk. The child was headed straight for a busy intersection, unaware of the impending danger.

Without hesitation, Butler reacted swiftly. “My heart dropped,” he recounted. Stopping his truck, he leapt out and dashed toward the child, intercepting him just before he could enter the traffic.

Reflecting on the incident, Butler remains amazed at the timely sequence of events. “Thinking back on it now, I’m not sure if it was God or something was divine intervention,” he said. “I don’t know, but there was something that day that was off than normal that just put me at the right place or right time. I just think about when I get home and my son’s happy to see me. So just thinking that – that little boy can be happy to see his parents or whoever.”
