UGA Nursing School Named After Longtime Benefactor Victoria Ivester

University of Georgia’s School of Nursing will be named after a long-time supporter

University of Georgia Receives Transformative Gift for School of Nursing

In a heartfelt tribute at a private event, Melvin Douglas Ivester announced that the University of Georgia’s School of Nursing will be renamed in honor of his wife, Victoria Kay Ivester. This announcement was part of the couple’s ongoing dedication to the institution.

The renaming to the Victoria Kay Ivester School of Nursing comes as a result of a significant $20.5 million endowment from Melvin Ivester and the Ivester Foundation. This generous contribution is not the first from the Ivesters, who previously donated $5 million to establish the M. Douglas and V. Kay Ivester Institute for Business Analytics and Insights at the Terry College of Business.

According to Melvin Ivester, his wife’s passion for nursing and education, along with her concern for others’ well-being, were major factors in their decision to support the nursing school in this way. The Ivesters are optimistic that the newly named school will enhance educational opportunities for students and positively impact Georgia’s medical community.
