A local podcast is capturing the attention of dreamers with its uplifting tales and engaging dialogues. HarmonyTALK, a series broadcast on WVIA-FM, is set to embark on its fifth season, starting this Sunday. The upcoming season opener will feature Marc Spindler, a notable West Scranton native, who spent nine seasons in the NFL. Known for his tenacity and fierce play, Spindler embodies a dream realized by few athletes.
In a conversation with Greg Frigoletto, one of the podcast’s trio of hosts, Spindler discusses the universal challenge of redefining self-worth beyond the NFL, crafting a new identity, and the unyielding strength of familial bonds.
Lisa Champeau, who co-hosts alongside Frigoletto and Todd Stephens, expressed anticipation for the new season. “This upcoming season is probably going to be the most exciting season of all,” she stated.
Henry Skier, a resident of Hawley, launched the podcast in 2021, drawing inspiration from the TimesTalks by the New York Times. His vision was to provide a platform for self-expression, which he believes brings “inspiration to all of us.” Skier also established the Foundation for Harmony Presents, which includes the outdoor venue, Harmony in the Woods.
Tune in Sunday
The upcoming episodes, airing Sundays at 4:30 p.m. on WVIA-FM, include:
- Marc Spindler: Tackling Life After the Game Ends, Jan. 18.
- Gabrielle Ruiz: From Border Roots to Broadway Brilliance, Jan. 25.
Growing up in Texas, Ruiz had a deep connection to her Mexican-American roots and was introduced to performing arts through public education. Her journey led her to New York City, where she faced the realities of a performer’s life. Her perseverance earned her a role in Broadway’s “In the Heights” and a pivotal recommendation from Lin-Manuel Miranda for “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.” Ruiz now resides in Lackawanna County. - Jackie Means: This Queen Codes, Feb. 1.
Recognized as Miss Black USA Talented Teen 2021, Miss Philadelphia 2023, and recently Miss Caribbean 2025, Means is dedicated to motivating underprivileged girls to explore STEM fields. She founded the Girls Empowerment STEM Initiative at 12 and champions her mantra: “Lift as you climb.”
Passion, future plans
“They have a passion. They follow it through,” Champeau remarked. “Our goal really was to put out podcasts about people who achieve something and be inspirational. And there’s an educational component to it as well, because almost all the guests we ask, ‘What advice would you give to younger people pursuing the path, a career path such as yours?’”
This season, the podcast aims to incorporate more video content and host some live interviews at Harmony in the Woods, according to Champeau. Over 100 episodes are already accessible online.
