Republican Primary to Decide Davie County Board of Commissioners
In a pivotal local election, six Republican candidates are competing for two available positions on the Davie County Board of Commissioners. With no Democratic contenders in the race, the winners of the Republican primary will directly assume office.
Among those running for re-election are current board chair Benita Finney and vice chair Brent Shoaf, both of whom have been serving since their election in 2022. According to a candidate survey conducted by the Davie County Enterprise Record, both incumbents have identified the county’s rapid growth as a primary concern.
This sentiment is shared by planning board member and challenger Mark White. Meanwhile, Mark Crater, a retired police lieutenant, has prioritized tackling the issue of rising taxes. The candidate list is rounded out by Billy Reavis, a newcomer to politics, and Charles O. Williams, who previously ran for the board in 2024. However, neither Reavis nor Williams responded to the survey.
