G20 Finance Leaders to Meet in Asheville, NC for Key Discussions

In a notable gathering set to take place later this year, finance leaders from major global economies will be meeting in Asheville. This announcement was made by the U.S. Treasury Department on Thursday.

The summit, part of the G20 Finance Track, will host finance ministers and central bank governors from 19 nations alongside representatives from two international bodies.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent expressed enthusiasm about the event, stating, “I am proud to spotlight that the United States will host the G20 finance ministers and central bank governors in Asheville, North Carolina.” He underscored the choice of Asheville as reflecting the Trump Administration’s dedication to the economic revitalization of western North Carolina, particularly as the area continues to recover from Hurricane Helene. The Asheville meetings are scheduled for August 29 through September 1. Here’s a breakdown of the G20 Finance Track meeting schedule:

  • April 16 (Washington, D.C.): Meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors.
  • August 29-30 (Asheville, North Carolina): Meeting of finance and central bank deputies.
  • August 31 – September 1 (Asheville, North Carolina): Meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors.
  • October 15 (Bangkok, Thailand): Meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors.
  • December 14-15 (Miami, Florida): The year’s events will conclude with a summit at Trump National Doral.

The G20 consists of the following countries: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Additionally, the European Union and African Union are participating entities.
