In a vibrant celebration of culture and community, Casa Azul marks 15 years of promoting Latinx and Latin American arts in the Triad area. Founded in Greensboro, this organization has been a beacon for cultural exchange and community building since its inception.

Casa Azul is known for organizing a variety of cultural events, including art exhibitions, music performances, and educational workshops, all featuring Latino artists. This Sunday, the organization will honor its history and the people who have contributed to its success during its Quinceañera Year celebration. Gissele Hernandez Cruz, the Coordinator of Operations, notes that their events are designed to encourage people unfamiliar with Latino culture to explore and engage.

Hernandez Cruz explains, “For example, our Noches Latinas event — we begin with a class. That can be salsa, that can be merengue, and everybody is welcome. You don’t need to know the dance moves. We have that class that provides you with that. We do artist talks for artists to share the understanding of their art, and for the public to ask questions.”

This weekend’s festivities, titled Música Para Todos, will feature performances by the Lorena Guillén Tango Ensemble and other artists. Joining them are UNC Greensboro’s Sinfonia, Weaver Academy Strings, and more. The concert is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. on the UNCG campus and is open to the public.
