Alleged Tanglewood Park Assault Disproved by Phone Location Data

The alleged sexual assault at Tanglewood Park did not take place there

An Unexpected Turn in the Tanglewood Park Case

Recent revelations have significantly altered the narrative surrounding the reported assault at Tanglewood Park. Initially described as an attack on a female jogger on June 30, the alleged incident led to an extensive search operation. However, new information has surfaced that contradicts the original account.

Investigations have uncovered that the event did not occur at the hiking trail near the dog park as initially claimed. This finding emerged after location data from the alleged victim’s phone was reviewed, revealing inconsistencies with her initial statement. The individual later corroborated these findings in a follow-up interview with authorities.

Forsyth County Sheriff Bobby Kimbrough expressed concern over the resources expended during the investigation. “I have my opinion on how I feel about it, because man-hours, assets, a plethora of our resources and assets have been tied up with this,” he stated. “If I had to go back and calculate the hours of overtime, the hours of security that we put in the park after that.”

Decisions regarding potential charges against the alleged victim now rest with District Attorney Jim O’Neill. He highlighted the implications of false testimony, particularly its impact on those who were wrongfully questioned based on the initial suspect description. O’Neill also voiced concerns about the broader repercussions of such incidents on public trust and the integrity of future testimonies.

While the investigation is ongoing, Sheriff Kimbrough noted that additional lab results are pending. He assured that further details would be released as they become available.
