Weather Update: Rain, Wind, and Snow in the Forecast
Residents in the valley might experience light rain today, while the Sierra mountains could receive over an inch. Gusty winds are expected, with speeds reaching up to 70 mph in certain areas and as high as 110 mph in the mountains.
An Avalanche Warning is currently in effect due to the combination of today’s rain, strong winds, and last week’s snowfall, which has created unstable conditions on the slopes.
Snowfall is anticipated at elevations starting from 7,500 to 8,500 feet, gradually rising to 10,000-10,500 feet as the day progresses. This could result in an accumulation of approximately 6 inches of snow. The storm is expected to diminish by early Wednesday morning, leading to mostly clear skies throughout the day.
While there’s a slight 10% chance of additional rain tomorrow, it is not expected to be significant. The weather will begin to warm up as the week continues, with temperatures approaching 70 degrees.
