Leadership Shakeup as Library Director Announces Resignation
In a surprising development, the library system is facing yet another leadership change as Director McClure has announced her resignation. This announcement was communicated to the library staff through an email sent by Assistant County Manager David Solaro, highlighting the ongoing challenges the library faces in maintaining stable leadership.
Solaro’s email, which was shared with KUNR, included a message acknowledging the potential frustration due to this transition, stating: “I recognize this is another change for the Library System and uncertainty can be frustrating.” The email aims to address concerns and reassure staff that the county will work towards ensuring a smooth transition.
McClure’s resignation is set to take effect on August 31, 2026. Her tenure was short-lived, having only accepted the position in April following an extensive national search. This move comes after the library had been without permanent leadership for nearly a year. The previous director, Jeff Scott, left under pressure from anti-LGBTQ+ activists and previous Library Board of Trustees members.
