In Fort Worth, Texas, a convenience store manager is receiving praise for his life-saving actions during a severe winter storm. Faris Hussain, who manages Evans Food Mart, took swift action after a customer reported a homeless woman, known as Bobbi, was found in a frozen state outside the store.

Hussain immediately rushed outside and discovered Bobbi lying on the ground, her body rigid and nearly immobile due to the extreme cold.
“She felt like a rock, as stiff as a rock. When I picked her up, her entire body was just – it was like no matter which way you picked her up, her body was going to stay the same form,” he said.
Demonstrating quick thinking, Hussain carried Bobbi into the warmth of the store, allowing her to gradually regain warmth. Once inside, she expressed her gratitude to those present, recounting how she spent the entire night outside in freezing conditions.
Emergency services were promptly called, and both police and paramedics arrived to transport Bobbi to a hospital for treatment.
The story later took a positive turn when Bobbi and Hussain reunited following her recovery. Surveillance footage captured the critical moment Hussain responded to help her, which Bobbi described as a moment she thought might never come.
On the night she was found, Bobbi revealed she was attempting to reach a warming shelter, only to find it closed. It was also her 50th birthday, making the ordeal particularly difficult. She had attempted to crawl through the icy conditions seeking help, leaving her shoes behind as she was unable to wear them.
Reflecting on the incident, Bobbi remarked on how Hussain’s strength enabled him to lift her when no one else could.
“You know, it’s kind of like, ‘God was watching over you—like, no, we’re going to make sure you’re good,’” Hussain said.
Fort Worth fire officials confirmed that emergency responders took Bobbi to the hospital, though her specific medical condition remains undisclosed. Bobbi has expressed profound appreciation for those who assisted her and hopes her experience will motivate others to act when witnessing someone in distress.
Despite the commendation, Hussain downplays the notion of heroism, stating that assisting others is an integral part of how he and the store contribute to serving their community every day.
