Officer EL Tuapati from the Ba Police Station was conducting routine patrols in flood-affected areas, tasked with relocating residents from dangerous locations. It was during these patrols that she encountered an elderly woman, over 80 years old, seated alone in the pouring rain.

The woman was drenched, visibly shivering, and lacked any means of shelter.

Unable to leave her in such dire conditions, Officer Tuapati escorted the woman to the police station, ensuring her safety and shielding her from the inclement weather.

The officer’s sense of duty went beyond her official responsibilities.

Once her shift ended, Officer Tuapati returned with dry clothing, allowing the elderly woman to change and warm herself.

Reflecting on her actions, Officer Tuapati mentioned that the police uniform symbolizes “not only authority, but also compassion and a duty to protect people from suffering.”

She urged others to check on elderly neighbors and those living alone during the ongoing adverse weather, emphasizing that simple acts of kindness can significantly impact lives.
