Unbeknownst to Carter, his fellow classmate was contemplating suicide, having already made plans to end his life. However, Carter’s simple act of reaching out prompted the student to rethink his decision, leading to a change of heart.

Carter’s life-saving gesture was officially acknowledged at an Ankeny School Board meeting held on Monday night. He received an award inscribed with the message: “No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.”

In an interview with a local news channel, Carter expressed his humility and gratitude, emphasizing his happiness that his classmate is now doing well. This incident underscores the profound impact that even the smallest acts of kindness can have.
