Caleb Killough, a home improvement specialist, arrived at Melinda Potosky’s home in Keller, Texas, anticipating a typical day of work. However, what followed was an unexpectedly personal encounter.
Killough immediately felt a connection to Potosky, reminiscent of his late grandmother. He noted, “There was something in her eyes. She reminded me of my Gammy. She’s no longer with us.”
During their conversation, Potosky shared her struggles with her health, detailing the close monitoring by doctors and the potential need for a transplant. This resonated deeply with Killough, as his own father had experienced a double lung transplant six years prior. “I thought I was going to lose my father, so it was very emotional,” he recounted.
The meeting progressed from a standard sales call to a meaningful moment of connection. Touched by her story, Killough offered to pray with Potosky, creating a bond that was much needed for both.
Potosky expressed, “He was the most delightful young man I’ve ever encountered, and we have just seemed to click.”
The story, however, did not conclude with their initial encounter.
Returning on the following Monday, Killough brought an unexpected gift from Texas Home Improvement, his employer. They pledged to carry out necessary repairs to Potosky’s home at no cost, an act of generosity that deeply moved her.
This remarkable gesture turned an ordinary workday into an unforgettable experience for both individuals. Potosky quipped, “I think I’m going to have to invite him to be my grandson.”
