In a charged appearance in Madison, Wisconsin, former Vice President Kamala Harris voiced strong disapproval of President Donald Trump’s recent military actions in Iran. Her visit coincided with escalating tensions following U.S. and Israeli strikes aimed at toppling the Iranian regime.
Speaking at a book tour event at the Orpheum Theater, Harris criticized the President’s decision, stating, “In the last 48 hours Donald Trump has dragged America into a war that we don’t want.” The strikes, noted for proceeding without Congressional approval, resulted in the loss of three American soldiers, as reported by Harris, referencing media sources.
The backdrop to her criticisms was Trump’s announcement of the death of Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, on Truth Social, coupled with warnings of further U.S. retaliation if provoked by Iran.
Harris’s visit was part of promoting her book “107 Days,” which chronicles her rapid presidential campaign following Joe Biden’s early withdrawal from the race.
The event was not without interruptions. A heckler accused Harris of funding a genocide, reflecting the contentious views surrounding her stance on Israel’s actions in Gaza during her presidential bid. Another protester raised concerns about her position on ICE, leading to their removal by security amidst audience jeers.

Moderator V Spehar, known for podcasting and TikTok hosting, diverted attention from the disruptions by singing Sesame’s Street’s “Sing.” The event continued with Harris addressing the concerns of the protesters and reflecting on the need for honest dialogue about past administrative actions.
Harris also touched upon her childhood in Madison, recounting fond memories and visits to her childhood home. Her nostalgia was met with enthusiastic audience responses, including those from attendees like Stephanie Rahman and Betsy Wood, who expressed both hope and a sense of political nostalgia regarding Harris’s future.
