A Journey of Tranquility: Buddhist Monks Walk for Peace Across America
Embarking on a remarkable journey across the United States, a group of Buddhist monks is traversing 2,300 miles from Texas to Washington D.C. to spread messages of peace, love, and compassion. Their journey recently brought them through Oconee and Oglethorpe counties, altering their original route which included Athens and Elbert County.
The monks have been warmly welcomed by large gatherings of supporters throughout their expedition. Accompanying them is Aloka the Peace Dog, adding a unique touch to their mission. Along the way, generous supporters have contributed food donations, and the community is encouraged to join and visit during designated hours.
For those interested in tracking their progress or learning more, the monks’ journey can be followed on the “Walk for Peace” Facebook page. Additionally, updates on Aloka the Peace Dog are available on his dedicated Facebook page.
