St. Mary's Healthcare to hold free Community Health Fair

St. Mary’s Health Fair Rescheduled for March 17

The eagerly anticipated Community Health Fair organized by St. Mary’s Health Care System at the Athens Regional Library has been rescheduled due to adverse winter weather conditions. This complimentary event will now take place on Tuesday, March 17, from 11 am to 3 pm, offering a variety of health services for all attendees.

Kimberly Hemphill, the Regional Director of Community Health and Wellbeing at St. Mary’s, emphasizes the fair’s comprehensive offerings. “Attendees can receive health screenings, talk one-on-one with clinical experts, learn about chronic disease prevention, get wellness education and connect with community resources,” she stated. Hemphill further added, “We’ll have information on nutrition, mental health, physical activity, and safety. Really, the full spectrum of what helps individuals and their families live healthier lives.”

The initiative aims to enhance the quality of life by providing crucial health education and access to valuable information and services. Hemphill highlighted the importance of these efforts, noting, “Many members of our community face challenges, whether it’s transportation, lack of insurance, or simply not knowing where to start. So, by bringing these services directly into the community, we’re helping create connections that empower people to take charge of their own health.”

Open to everyone, the event does not require participants to be St. Mary’s patients, nor is insurance necessary. The health fair represents a vital opportunity for community members to engage in proactive health management and resource connection.
