Jules Bruck Takes on New Role as Dean at the University of Florida

With an exemplary career in landscape architecture, Jules Bruck is set to step into the role of dean at the University of Florida’s School of Landscape Architecture and Planning starting July 1. Bruck, who has been serving as the director and professor at the same school, brings a wealth of experience and recognized expertise to her new position.

Bruck, a registered landscape architect, was named a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects in 2024. Her work has significantly contributed to advancing coastal resilience, particularly through a notable $9.4 million project focused on shellfish‑based living shorelines. This initiative has been supported by major organizations such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the U.S. Department of Defense, the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Before her current tenure at the University of Florida, Bruck established the landscape architecture program at the University of Delaware in 2016. There, she founded the Coastal Resilience Design Studio (CRDS), an initiative that has informed local land-use policy and spurred nearly $10 million in infrastructure investments. The CRDS has gained national attention for its innovative strategies in enhancing coastal resilience.

Bruck’s academic achievements include a doctorate in agricultural education from Texas A&M University, alongside a master’s degree in horticulture and a bachelor’s degree in landscape contracting from Penn State University.
