15th Annual Firefly Trail Ticket to Ride gearing up Saturday

Annual Event Highlights Progress and Future of Firefly Trail

Outdoor enthusiasts and cycling aficionados will converge for the 15th Annual Athens Physical Therapy Firefly Trail Ticket to Ride this Saturday, March 28. This event not only celebrates the 12 miles of trail currently open but also aims to gather support and funds for the completion of the remaining 27 miles.

Mark Ralston, serving as the Publicity Chair for Firefly Trail Incorporated, shared insights about the event’s structure. “This will be an up to 82 mile out and back ride starting in Athens, Winterville, or Union Point,” said Ralston. “Riders can choose how far they want to go or how little they want to go. All proceeds support the work of Firefly Trail Incorporated to finish the trail.”

The ride kicks off at 9 a.m. in Union Point, while participants in Athens and Winterville will begin at 10 a.m. Riders have the option to select from a completely paved pathway or a mix of trail and gravel starting from Union Point.

This year marks the introduction of the inaugural Trailblazer 5K and Fun Run, scheduled to start at 8 a.m. The event is open to participants of all ages and abilities, encouraging a community spirit.

Ticket to Ride is designed as a non-competitive event, welcoming even those on e-bikes to join the fun. For further information and registration details, visit www.fireflytrail.com.
