Fatal Train Incident Under Investigation in Barrow County
A tragic incident unfolded on the train tracks in Barrow County, prompting an active investigation by local authorities. Shortly before noon on March 16th, emergency responders were called to a scene where a train had fatally struck a man.
The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office received a report at 11:59 a.m. regarding the accident involving a pedestrian and a train. The victim was identified as Johnny Ray Gooch, aged 67. According to the train conductor’s account, Gooch was observed lying on the tracks as the train approached. Unfortunately, the train was unable to halt in time to prevent the collision.
The incident resulted in the immediate death of Mr. Gooch at the scene. The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office has since initiated a thorough investigation to understand the circumstances surrounding this tragic occurrence.
