Georgia Senator Ossoff Urges ICE Reform and DHS Director’s Resignation

Senator Jon Ossoff calls for reform of ICE, accountability for killings

Senator Jon Ossoff Advocates for Reform in ICE Policies

In a bold move on Wednesday, Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff voiced a strong call for changes within the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Highlighting the need for “common sense reform,” Ossoff is prepared to withhold approval of further agency funding until these changes are addressed.

Senator Ossoff emphasized the necessity for federal action to safeguard the civil liberties of American citizens. “It is time for the masked Federal agents who have been beating and killing American citizens to be restrained and held accountable,” he stated. “It is time for the raids on the homes of American citizens without so much as a judge’s warrant to end. It is time for the killings of American citizens to be properly and fully investigated.”

Additionally, Ossoff has called for the resignation of Kristi Noem, who currently serves as the director of the Department of Homeland Security. His demands come at a crucial time, as the Senate must pass a funding bill by the week’s end to prevent a partial government shutdown.
