Georgia DHS Invites Community Input for Upcoming State Plan on Aging
The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS) is initiating a series of statewide discussions this spring to shape its forthcoming State Plan on Aging, slated for 2028-2031. These conversations aim to gather insights from those most connected to the aging community, ensuring that the voices of older adults and their caregivers are heard.
In compliance with federal mandates, the Georgia DHS must develop a comprehensive four-year State Plan on Aging. This plan is crucial as it outlines the services and support systems available to older adults and individuals with disabilities across the state.
Partnering with the University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government, DHS will facilitate these community conversations to collect valuable feedback. Residents of Northeast Georgia involved in the aging community, including elderly individuals, caregivers, and service providers, are particularly encouraged to attend a session scheduled on May 13th at 3700 Atlanta Highway in Athens. Additionally, those unable to attend in person can provide their input online. More details can be found at aging.georgia.gov.
