Georgia Political Candidates Report Campaign Finances
With the political season heating up in Georgia, candidates vying for office have revealed their latest campaign contributions and expenditures. The financial disclosures, submitted on January 31st, 2026, provide a glimpse into the campaign dynamics, with another filing deadline scheduled for April 30th, 2026.
Among the contenders, District 6 Commissioner Dexter Fisher stands out with a significant fundraising lead. His campaign expenditures surpass the total funds raised by his closest rival, Tim Denson.
While Sharon Miller has declared her intention to solicit contributions, she has yet to report any donations. Meanwhile, Mara Zuniga is the sole candidate to roll over $9,000 from earlier in the same election cycle.
Tim Denson’s average donation was $78, with notable contributions from District 2 Commissioner Melissa Link and District 8 Commissioner Carol Myers, alongside local Democratic figures, including State Representative Eric Gisler. His personal contribution of over $1500 is the largest single amount his campaign has received.
On the other hand, Dexter Fisher’s campaign sees an average contribution nearing $900. Contributions include $2000 from Athens-Clarke County District Attorney Kalki Yalamanchili, and hefty sums from property firms and the CEO of Zaxby’s. His donor base also includes senior figures from the University of Georgia and local entrepreneurs.
Mara Zuniga and Lakeisha Gantt have fewer donors, yet those contributors generally gave more per capita compared to those backing Denson.
Correction: Earlier, the article inaccurately stated Mara Zuniga’s campaign funds were from a previous election cycle. It has been rectified to reflect those funds were from an earlier period in the current cycle.
