Cinco de Mayo Festivities Bring Poetry and Culture to the Community
As Cinco de Mayo celebrations kick off, renowned Mexican artist and activist Beto Cacao is set to captivate audiences with a special event that blends literature and culture. On Tuesday, May 5th, Cacao will introduce his latest poetry collection, Poemigrant(e)s, during a public reading and book signing at Pinewoods Library.
The library event, scheduled from 3 to 4:45 p.m., will feature an engaging conversation about the themes and inspirations behind Cacao’s work. Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase the book and engage with the author in a vibrant community setting.
Additionally, Hendershot’s will serve as a hub for a series of festivities curated by Cacao. From 12 p.m. continuing into the night, the venue will host a variety of cultural experiences, starting with a musical performance by Cacao himself at 5:30 p.m. The lineup includes live music, food vendors offering traditional cuisine, and dance performances that embody the spirit of Cinco de Mayo.
The Pinewoods Library event is free to the public, inviting everyone to immerse themselves in an afternoon of poetry and discussion. For those seeking to extend their cultural immersion, Hendershot’s evening activities require a $10 admission fee, with potential additional charges for late-night entries. Be sure to check local listings or venue announcements for the latest updates on entry fees.
