Mayoral Candidates Address Key Issues in Athens-Clarke County Debate
In a pivotal moment for Athens-Clarke County, five mayoral candidates engaged in a debate that delved into pressing community issues. The event, held at the Athens-Clarke County Library and hosted by WUGA, provided a platform for candidates to outline their visions and policy priorities.
The debate, which took place on April 13th, 2026, featured Tim Denson, Dexter Fisher, LaKeisha Gantt, Sharon Miller, and Mara Zuniga. These candidates discussed a wide range of topics including homelessness, public safety, and affordable housing, offering voters a glimpse into their policy agendas.
The debate was divided into two parts, with the initial segment airing on Saturday, April 18th at 10 a.m., and the subsequent section scheduled for broadcast on Monday, April 20th at 8 p.m. This format allowed for a comprehensive exploration of each candidate’s stance on critical local issues.
