Residents Mobilize for No Kings 3 Event Highlighting National Concerns

The community of Athens is preparing to join thousands across the country for the upcoming No Kings 3 event. Scheduled for Saturday, March 28, this initiative is part of a nationwide effort involving over 3,000 rallies and protests. One of the leading organizations, Indivisible Georgia 10, is co-chaired by Barb Burt.

“I know people are very concerned about the idea of putting an enormous ICE facility in Social Circle,” Burt remarked. “And concerned about this bombing of Iran, and people are also worried about the SAVE Act, that we feel will disenfranchise a lot of voters.”

Burt emphasizes the importance of these gatherings in providing a platform for community expression.

“We really feel that our voices are not being heard and this is one way to really be able to stand up together and say we don’t like what’s going on, we want it to change.”

The event spans multiple venues and times, with a notable Democracy Fair taking place at Bishop Park. The fair, commencing at 3:30 pm, promises an array of activities including speeches, live music, an art exhibit, and more.
