Athens-Clarke County Updates Leaf and Limb Collection Schedule

ACC Government changes their leaf and limb collection schedule

Athens-Clarke County Expands Its Leaf and Limb Collection Program

In a bid to enhance its waste management efforts, the Athens-Clarke County Government Solid Waste Department has decided to streamline its leaf and limb collection services. The program will now operate on a four-week rotation, replacing the previous six-week cycle, and will also see a reduction in service areas from six to four distinct zones.

This initiative aims to encourage environmental sustainability by facilitating the curbside collection of organic waste such as leaves, limbs, and small branches. The service remains complimentary for residents of Athens-Clarke County, with the exception of those living in apartments and on private roads.

The transition to the updated four-week collection schedule received the green light from the Mayor and Commission in June 2025, and it is funded through the Fiscal Year 2026 Budget. Residents seeking more detailed information, including guidance on the new collection zones, can visit the Athens-Clarke County Government’s website.
