Protests Erupt at Athens Stop of ‘This Is the Turning Point Tour’

Athens stop on Turning Point tour met with protests

Athens Hosts Divisive Rally with Mixed Reactions

In Athens, the atmosphere was charged with contrasting emotions as the ‘This Is the Turning Point Tour’ made its second stop. The event sparked both fervent support and vocal protests.

On April 14th, University of Georgia students and local residents gathered to express their opposition to the appearance of Vice President JD Vance and Erika Kirk at the Turning Point rally. Erika Kirk, widow of Charlie Kirk, was originally scheduled to address the attendees but opted not to attend due to security concerns. Inside the venue, Vice President JD Vance faced a divided crowd, with hecklers among his supporters.

Outside the Classic Center, the scene was equally dynamic. Tim Denson, a candidate for Athens Mayor, was a notable presence among the protesters, leading chants and promoting messages of unity and solidarity.
