Nebraska’s softball team is gearing up for a significant milestone in their program’s history. This week, the Huskers, who have secured the No. 4 overall seed, will host their first-ever super regional. Their opponents are the No. 13 overall seed, Oklahoma State, a familiar face from their Big 12 Conference days. The action kicks off on Thursday.
Jordy Frahm, an All-American known for her skills as both a pitcher and first baseman, shared insights into the team’s upbeat atmosphere. “We’re singing Michael Jackson. We’re having fun, and that is a huge part of this group, is just having the joy in the little moments in between pitches,” she stated. Frahm expressed her confidence in the team’s current form and potential.
Game one of the series is slated for 8 p.m. CT on Thursday. Nebraska’s head coach, Rhonda Revelle, humorously noted the late start might disrupt her usual routine. “I think they’ll be fine, because it’s about the time they wake up,” Revelle said. “I’m gonna have to take a nap. I’m halfway through my night of sleep, usually by 8 o’clock, so [I] might have to caffeinate a little bit.”
Despite the timing, Revelle expects the game to be fast-paced and packed with adrenaline. In this best-of-three series, the team that claims two victories will advance to the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City, running from May 28 to June 5.
The opening clash between Nebraska and Oklahoma State will be broadcast on ESPN2. The second game is scheduled for Friday at 4 p.m. CT, also on ESPN2. Should the series require a decisive game three, it will take place on Saturday at 4 p.m. CT on ESPN.
