Meet the Young Voices Behind KUNR’s Youth Media Program
In a world where storytelling is more important than ever, KUNR’s Youth Media program is fostering the next generation of journalists. Through this initiative, high school students are given the chance to explore the field of media, each bringing their unique perspectives and aspirations to the table.

Maya Martinez, a senior at Hug High School, has recently developed an interest in movie production. She joined the KUNR Youth Media internship to gain hands-on experience in storytelling. Maya enjoys watching movies, reading, and spending time with her loved ones.

Sequoia Burkhouse, a junior at Hug High School, is passionate about storytelling and creating art with available materials. She enrolled in the program to engage with the community and explore opportunities in political comedy media, aspiring to work with shows like SNL or the Daily Show.

Kaitlyn Campbell, a senior at Galena High School, is an avid outdoors enthusiast with a passion for sports like lacrosse and skiing. She joined the internship with plans to study journalism at UNR and ultimately become a foreign correspondent.
