In a decisive move, the Clarke County Board of Education has reaffirmed its commitment to academic excellence by endorsing Dr. Jennifer Scott as the new superintendent. After serving as interim superintendent since July 2025, Dr. Scott steps into the role following the retirement of her predecessor, Dr. Robbie Hooker.
Dr. Mumby Anderson, Board President, expressed enthusiasm for the decision, stating, “Please join me in welcoming a leader who is deeply committed to this community and to ensuring success for every student, Dr. Scott. Congratulations. Thank you.” The board members unanimously cast their votes in her favor, underscoring their confidence in her leadership capabilities.
Dr. Scott’s tenure as deputy superintendent was marked by notable achievements, including substantial improvements in CRPI scores, early literacy, math performance, and graduation rates. These accomplishments were attributed to her clear instructional vision and robust accountability frameworks. “As deputy superintendent, she led some of the district’s most notable academic gains,” Dr. Anderson remarked.
Pending a 14-day waiting period, the board will formalize Dr. Scott’s appointment as superintendent. Her professional dossier is accessible on the district’s website. With a career at CCSD beginning in 1998, Dr. Scott has held various roles, from classroom educator to principal, culminating in her recent position as deputy superintendent. Her selection follows a comprehensive national search that reviewed 32 applicants.
