US Forged Rings, Inc., a manufacturer of specialty steel products, has announced plans to establish a major production facility in Hertford County, North Carolina. The project, unveiled by Governor Josh Stein, will involve three phases and a total planned investment of $875 million. The initial two phases are expected to create 625 new full-time jobs, marking a significant economic boost for the region.
Governor Josh Stein highlighted the investment as a testament to North Carolina’s skilled workforce, emphasizing the state’s commitment to attracting high-quality jobs. US Forged Rings, incorporated in March 2022, specializes in large-diameter steel fabrications and has a strategic supply chain partnership with Nucor. The new facility will be located next to Nucor Steel’s processing site, furthering synergies between the companies.
USFR’s CEO & President, Giacomo Sozzi, noted that the investment would enhance the resilience of the U.S. economy by reducing reliance on foreign suppliers and stabilizing costs for critical infrastructure projects. The announcement was met with enthusiasm from local and state officials, who praised the project’s potential to revitalize the regional economy and provide substantial employment opportunities.
The collaboration between government entities, educational institutions, and private sector partners played a crucial role in securing the project. Among those involved were the North Carolina Department of Commerce, the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, and several local organizations, all of which contributed to the successful negotiation and announcement of the new facility.
