North Carolina’s unemployment rate stood at 3.8 percent in November 2025, according to the state’s latest seasonally adjusted statistics. This marks a slight increase from the previous year, while still remaining below the national unemployment rate of 4.6 percent. The data for October 2025 was not available due to a lapse in appropriations. The state saw both an increase in employment and unemployment figures over the past year.

North Carolina’s unemployment rate has increased by 0.1 percentage point compared to the previous year. Over the same period, employment rose by 5,325 individuals, whereas the number of unemployed increased by 7,465. Total Nonfarm employment in the state increased by 3,300 in November, reaching 5,119,900. Sectors such as Construction and Leisure & Hospitality Services saw notable growth, while Private Education & Health Services and Manufacturing experienced declines.

Since November 2024, North Carolina has added 87,900 Total Nonfarm jobs, with the Private sector contributing 87,200 jobs and the Government sector adding 700 jobs. Industries like Professional & Business Services and Private Education & Health Services were among the top contributors to this growth. Conversely, Manufacturing and Information sectors saw a decrease in employment over the year. The next unemployment update, detailing county-specific rates for November 2025, is expected on January 16, 2026.
